WORK EXPERIENCE
Town of Hempstead (Long Island, NY) Department of Parks and Recreation: 1978-Present
Acting Deputy Commissioner:1997-2001
Responsible for the administration of the operating budget for the Parks and Recreation Department ($54 million annually). Accountable for the collection and disbursement of $5.7 million in revenue. Supervision and formulation of policies for the following administrative divisions within the department: Direct supervision for the purchasing of materials and supplies for all pools, beaches, athletic fields, recreation and Camp ANCHOR programs, and the maintenance and administration of golf courses. Formulate and prepare bid documents and oversee the reviewing and recommendation process of departmental bids. Prepare, administer and collect grants totally $2,000,000 annually.
Golf Course Superintendent:1976-1978
Responsible for daily maintenance operations of the two Municipal Golf Courses. Duties included the scheduling of personnel and the purchasing of all materials, supplies and chemicals for the golf courses. Implemented and helped design and supervise $4 million in capital improvements to the Town golf courses. Long Island Golf Course Superintendents Association's Class "A" Superintendent rating.
Nassau County Department of Recreation & Parks: 1976-1978
Recreation Supervisor I
Responsibilities: Overall operation of County parks, which included supervisor of pool complex, 200-boat marina, maintenance of ballfields and multi-court areas. Supervised and helped coordinate Primary and Secondary Dune Preservation Program at Nassau Beach. Coordinated the renovation of a 65-foot Skip Jack sailboat donated to Nassau County for their handicapped program.

Assistant Golf CourseSuperintendent
Responsibilities: Supervision of greens crew, hiring of personnel, and purchasing of chemicals and materials needed for the operation of the golf course.
YMCA - Camp Nokomis, Meredith, New Hampshire: 1970-1973
Trip Director
Responsibilities: Licensed by the State of New Hampshire as a commercial boat operator. Responsible for the operation of a fleet of boats ranging up to 65 feet. Planned and implemented hiking, canoeing, and overnight trips.
